A mediator since 1979, Claire has over 27 years experience as a NY attorney and as a senior executive specializing in business development, commercial applications of technology, venture philanthropy, nonprofit- and collaborative co-ventures.

Claire is co-chair of the Collaborative Council of the Redwood Empire (CCRE) Civil Collaborative Practice Committee, Founder and Editor of the CCRE Civil Collaborative Practice Journal and serves on the CCRE Education and Training, Website and Protocol Committees. She is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals Civil Probate and Business Subcommittees, ABA Section of Dispute Resolution Collaborative Law Subcommittee and the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Alternative Dispute Resolution Subcommittee on Psychology of Conflict Resolution.

Claire holds a B.A. in Political Science from City College of NY and a J.D., from Cardozo School of Law. She has more than seven years of professional training, and 17 years experience, as a natural medical self-care researcher and educator.

She is co-founder, President and CEO of Advanced Collaborative Team Solutions, Inc., and serves as a member of the Executive Committee of Board of Directors.

A practicing family law attorney for twenty years and a practicing collaborative lawyer since 2000, Betty also holds a CA Marriage, Family Therapist (MFT) License. Betty earned a B.A. and a M.A., in Clinical Psychology from San Jose State and her license as a Marriage Family Therapist in 1975. She received a Law Degree from New College School of the Law, was admitted to the California Bar in 1990, and opened a family law practice in San Francisco. In 1994, when her family relocated to Sonoma County, she joined Margaret L. Anderson's practice, as an associate.

In 1997, when Collaborative Practice was in its formative stages, Betty was a member of a small group of Sonoma County attorneys who met with Collaborative Law leaders, Rod Nurse, Ph.D., Peggy Thompson, Ph.D. and Pauline Tesler, JD. In 1998, Betty opened a practice in Santa Rosa focusing on alternative dispute resolution in family law matters and, in 2000, Betty helped to edit the Sonoma Family Law Court's Pre-Mediation Orientation Handbook.

Betty was a founding member of the Collaborative Law Section of the Sonoma County Bar Association, a member of Divorce without Court and a founding member of the Collaborative Council of the Redwood Empire (CCRE) Board. Betty is an Advanced Collaborative Team Solutions, Inc. co-founder and serves as the organization's Secretary, as a member of the Board's Executive Committee and as Director of ACT-Solutions' Collaborative Families Pilot Project.

A San Francisco Bay area attorney and mediator for twenty-two years, Kathleen Clark, earned a law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, a PhD from Tilburg University, and a Masters Degree in Business Management from John F. Kennedy University. Her doctoral dissertation is entitled, Bringing Dialogue and Collaborative Law to Health Care. She is founder and CEO of Servant Lawyership.

Kathy publishes, speaks, trains professionals, consults and coaches about the dialogue process, collaborative law, patient safety, disclosure, and appreciative inquiry. Her many articles on collaborative law, disclosure, dialogue, and appreciative inquiry appear in legal, insurance and other periodicals, including various American Bar Association journals, are available on her website, www.ServantLawyership.com.

Kathy convened the collaborative law symposium, Bringing Healing to Law and Medicine, in San Francisco in April, 2010. The event was co-sponsored by the American Bar Association sections of Dispute Resolution, Health Law and Torts, Trial and Insurance Practice. Kathy facilitates dialogues across the nation on medical errors and alternatives to medical malpractice litigation. Her work builds collaborations and alliances across professions and stakeholders, including patients, physicians, defendants' and plaintiffs' attorneys, insurers, other health care providers, hospitals, risk managers, patient safety professionals and other interested parties. Kathy is a member of The State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, The Global Collaborative Law Council, the Association for Conflict Resolution, and the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation.

She is an associate of The Taos Institute and a co-founder of Advanced Collaborative Team Solutions, Inc. Kathy serves as our Treasurer, as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board, and as Director of ACT-Solutions' Collaborative Healthcare Dialogue Project.

Jeanne Fahey has more than fifteen years of experience as an attorney, with a focus on employment, professional negligence and complex civil matters. In addition to her extensive experience in private practice, Jeanne served for six years as an Adjunct, and later, Assistant Professor of Moot Court with U.C. Hastings College of the Law, where she trained hundreds of law students in effective written and oral advocacy.  She received her B.A. in Sociology from University of California, Berkeley, in 1991, graduating with Highest Honors and Highest Distinction. She graduated cum laude and Order of the Coif from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1995.

Jeanne first received collaborative practice training in 2004 and is one of the leading experts in how to incorporate elements of the collaborative model into employment and other civil matters. Jeanne organized the first nationwide dialogues on expanding Collaborative Law from family law to other disputes from 2004 to 2005, and was one of the original members of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals’ (IACP Civil Practice Task Force, which first convened in July 2005. As these efforts have evolved over time, Jeanne has continued to be on the forefront nationally and internationally. She has spoken locally and nationally on using collaborative and cooperative techniques in employment and other civil disputes, most recently in her presentation, “Collaborative Advocacy in Employment Disputes: On the Cutting Edge of ‘Paradigm Drift’” at the 2010 ABA Section of Dispute Resolution Collaborative Law Symposium (co-sponsored by the ABA Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section).

Jeanne is a member of the Labor & Employment section of both the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association (ABA). She is also a founding member of the Psychology of Conflict Resolution Committee in the ABA’s Tort, Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS).

Jeanne is currently of counsel with The Davis Law Firm, a San Francisco employment law and litigation boutique where she advises small- and medium-sized employers on a range of issues and represents them in negotiations, litigation and administrative proceedings. In February 2010, she also launched a new venture – Collaborative Workforce Associates – dedicated solely to collaborative advocacy and other out-of court resolutions for employment disputes.

Jeanne is a founding member of Advanced Collaborative Team Solutions’ Board of Directors and serves as Director of the ACT-Solutions’ Collaborative Workplaces Project.

Duncan Mackintosh earned a BA from Oxford University (Trinity College), an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business, and the highest qualifications from the American Society of Appraisers and the Institute of Business Appraisers. For 28 years, Duncan served as a independent business appraiser in private practice. Earlier in his career he served as General Manager of four different companies and worked in Laos, Thailand, England and the US. Duncan is a long-time student of microfinance and more recently has turned his attention to how micro-lending cohorts and resources when combined with professional collaborative team support could be applied to eliminate poverty in Sonoma County.

A Sonoma County resident for 33 years, Duncan was an early member of Sonoma County Men Evolving Non-Violently, an organization that counsels men involved in domestic violence and abuse. For many years he served as a self-employment evaluator for the CA Department of Rehabilitation supporting vocational rehabilitation clients in launching businesses to achieve self-support and financial independence. Duncan was founding member of the Collaborative Council of the Redwood Empire Board of Directors, participated in continuing collaborative and mediation training and served as financial expert in many collaborative family law cases. He is an Emeritus Member of CCRE. He currently serves as a volunteer mediator for Recourse Mediation Services mediating community disputes, family law matters, matters involving juveniles and small claims cases.

Duncan is a fiddler of mainly Scottish music, a member of the Board of Scottish Fiddlers of California, and an author. Duncan serves as a member of the Advanced Collaborative Team Solutions, Inc. Board of Directors.

Susan E. Spar is an attorney and mediator, with over twenty-three years' experience in business and transactional law. She serves as co-chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Sonoma County Bar Association. She is on the mediation panel of Resolution Remedies, a member of the Sonoma County, and former member of the Los Angeles County, Superior Court Mediation Panels and serves as a volunteer mediator for Recourse Mediation Services.

She has been in private practice with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and served in-house as Vice President and General Counsel for Sunlaw Energy Corporation, a power plant developer/owner/operator and as Senior Corporate Counsel for Everest Properties, a real estate investment and management company.

In 1992-1993, Susan served as Staff Attorney and Volunteer for the Alliance for Children's Rights, a nonprofit Los Angeles law firm that exclusively represents low-income children, developed and drafted major training manuals, organized trainings, and represented children in Dependency and Probate Court. She also served as a volunteer for Stuart House, a center for sexually abused children. Prior to entering law school, Susan had a fourteen-year career in television production in New York City, working on programs ranging from soaps to sitcoms to children's shows.

Susan is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law (J.D., 1987, Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar) and Mount Holyoke College (B.A., 1970).

Robert Terris is a licensed attorney who has been practicing transformative and understanding-based mediation for eight years in a variety of family and legal settings. He is also a marriage and family therapist intern with extensive family therapy training.

Robert founded the Family Counseling & Mediation Center, in Oakland, California which specializes in mediating family conflicts which have underlying emotional issues and where preserving the relationship is important to the parties involved.

Robert has a J.D. from Boalt Hall (UC Berkeley School of Law), an M.S. in Peace and Conflict Studies from Gothenburg University, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute.

He has published various articles on mediation in the San Francisco and Los Angeles Daily Journals, as well as an article about Palestinian conflict resolution in the Berkeley Journal of International Law. He is also on the Board of Directors at the Family Institute of Pinole.

An Educator for thirty-seven years, Kari Vigeland, holds a B.A., in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire and a Masters of Education in Special Education

Kari served for 15 years as a Disability Resources Specialist with the Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, CA. In work with the SRJC Disability Resources Department she specialized in encouraging students with vision impairments, physical disabilities and learning differences in advocating for and receiving academic accommodations under Federal and CA state law, developing effective adaptive study and working strategies, adjusting to academic life given vision differences and blindness, and achieving their educational, career and professional objectives.

Kari also taught several developmental classes for students with disabilities and served as an administrator during the 15 years at SRJC.

Toni Wroolie received an MA in Health Psychology from Stanford and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. Her graduate studies included specialized training and an additional five years in clinical rotations in Neuropsychology and Geropsychology.

Toni is a Clinical Instructor and head of the Neurocognitive Assessment Clinic at the Center for Neuroscience in Women's Health at Stanford University School of Medicine and is part of a team conducting research on women with risk factors for Alzheimer's disease as well as other studies related to cognitive decline and dementia. As a clinician, she sees patients at the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine. She is the mental health consultant for a large older adult facility in Cupertino (The Forum) and maintains a private practice in Palo Alto.

Toni trained in Collaborative Practice through Association of Collaborative Law Attorneys and completed Mediation Training, and, since 2008, is an active participant and presenter in the Collaborative Council of the Redwood Empire (CCRE)'s Civil Collaborative Practice Committee Study Group. Her articles, A Collaborative Practice Team Approach to Capacity Evaluation and Eldercare, and, Mom's Neuropsych Report, were published in the CCRE Civil Collaborative Practice Journal.
